Bethan Tysall was born in Rugby on April 14th 1987. She has grown up living with her mum and brother and has gained many interests throughout her school years - music being the favourite.
Beth began playing the clarinet aged 10 and frequently sang in the school choir. She does remember however, being turned away after auditioning for the Nativity, with a teachers comment of:
"You cant play Mary, because your voice is too square!"
Since this time, Beth decided to concentrate on the clarinet and ballet - which she did outside of school.
The Tysall family joined Rugby Christian Life Centre in 1999 and Beth became good friends with Rochelle Frost. The girls happily sang karaoke in front of friends and family until an opportunity of entering a Crusader talent competition came along. Just for fun, the pair sent in a video tape of their own arrangement of Whitney Houston's "I have nothing." Throughout the stages of the competition, Beth and Rochelle sang to many different audiences gaining a good interest from the public.
The final of the competition was held at Tatton Park in Manchester and was recorded for sky TV. The girls came first and took on the name "Magnificat." They later begun a series of evangelistic and ministry performances throughout England.
In 2003, Beth left school and decided it was time for the now young women to go their separate ways.
Beth has always felt a strong calling to evangelistic performance in secular environments and so embarked upon some music courses at Warwickshire college. She studied there for two years and continued to do performances throughout England as a solo artist during her time there.
College proved to be a good grounding for Beth as she learned a great deal about the music industry, gained A-Level music, NCFE music technology, an ND in music practice and also made some new industry contacts.
After leaving college, Beth decided to go ahead with the idea of being an independent artist and began the preparations for starting a business. Beth knew she would need a good foundation and a great first album, so alongside writing music, Beth took on a nannying job, looking after a little girl named Hannah to pay for her start in the business. This alone was not enough, but a few people who believed in Beths ability and calling, gave money freely to enable her to fulfil the beginning of her dream.
Beth released her debut album through ICC in April 2006 entitled "Like My Shadow," and begun to take on more singing work after cutting down on nannying.
For the first year of self employment, most of Beths work came from Crusaders, who employed her to go throughout the country singing at their events. It was through Crusaders that Beth had her biggest and most prestigious engagement yet. Crusaders celebrated their 100th anniversary in May 2006 at the Royal Albert Hall, where they asked Beth to sing accapella "How Great Thou Art" to open the event. Beth was later followed by Yfriday and Delerious? In what was a nationwide celebration.
Later that year, Beth had her very first live performance on RMusic TV – a performance where she could finally take her live band and showcase her music to the world. This was not the last TV opening Beth would have in the near future, as signing up to musicfinity would soon show.
In January 2007, Ultimate Events partnered with musicfinity to find a band who would open the Alton Towers music event alongside Delerious? and Toby Mac later that year. To do this, they embarked upon a search throughout the internet, and opened up a competition which would get thousands of people involved. After being bought into the competition late, by default, Beth was asked to go head to head with five other bands on live TV and play for public and judge votes. Overall, Beth came 5th out of 125 bands and gained good TV exposure throughout the world.
This is just the beginning of Beths story, and we are all looking forward to what the future holds for her.
